William Fetner Furniture
of Hamlet North Carolina

The historical information about William Fetner Furniture was provided by the Fetner family.

William Fetner furniture had its beginnings in a partnership called Pinecroft Industries. In 1952, Daddy Bill had a serious automobile accident in February. He sold his half of the partnership in Pinecroft and in 1953 opened William Fetner furniture.

Bill spent endless hours researching each piece and when possible, would actually analyze an authentic antique and make the reproduction as similar as possible. Bill personally hand built each prototype prior to mass production.

The furniture was constructed entirely of American white pine. Each piece was hand finished and many were distressed after finishing. There were only 2 types of finishes available: Honey Pine, a light finish; and Olde Primitive, a darker finish and the more popular of the two.

Daddy Bill sold the company in 1966 and William Fetner Furniture was produced by the new owners until the late 60's or early 70's. Some of his lines during the mid-60's (1963-65) were made of pinot wood and imported from Spain.

Here's some examples of William Fetner furniture. Thanks to Kathleen Cannon for providing photos of her Fetner chest.
